The Intel Core i9-10900K was a high-performance desktop processor with 10 cores, launched in Q2 2020. It is part of the Core i9 lineup, using the Comet Lake architecture with Socket LGA1200. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading technology, the core-count is effectively doubled, to 20 threads. The i9-10900K features 20 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 3.7 GHz, with a maximum turbo boost frequency of up to 5.3 GHz depending on workload conditions. Intel manufactured the i9-10900K on an enhanced 14nm++ production process. While the processor has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking capabilities, its high performance comes with significant power demands - with a TDP of 125 W, robust cooling solutions are recommended for optimal operation. This processor supports DDR4 memory with a dual-channel interface, officially supporting speeds up to 2933 MHz. Unlike Xeon processors, the i9-10900K does not support ECC memory. For system communication, the processor uses PCI-Express 3.0 connections. This model lacks integrated graphics, requiring a discrete graphics card for display output. The i9-10900K includes Intel's hardware virtualization technology, enhancing virtual machine performance, and supports Intel's latest instruction sets for improved application compatibility and performance. The processor also features Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology that can automatically increase clock speeds when thermal headroom is available.
