The Intel Xeon Gold 5115 was a server/workstation processor with 10 cores, launched in July 2017. It is part of the Xeon Gold lineup, using the Skylake-SP architecture with Socket LGA3647. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 20 threads. Xeon Gold 5115 has 13.75 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 2.4 GHz, with a maximum turbo frequency of 2.8 GHz depending on workload conditions. Intel is manufacturing the Xeon Gold 5115 on a 14 nm production process using an undisclosed number of transistors. The multiplier is locked on Xeon Gold 5115, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 85 W, this processor offers relatively efficient power consumption for its performance level. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with a six-channel interface, running at speeds up to 2400 MHz. ECC memory is supported as well, which is crucial for mission-critical systems to prevent data corruption. For communication with other system components, Xeon Gold 5115 uses PCI-Express 3.0 connections. This processor does not include integrated graphics, so a discrete graphics card may be required. Hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x) is supported on the Xeon Gold 5115, significantly enhancing virtual machine performance. The processor also includes advanced instruction sets like AVX-512 for demanding computational workloads. Designed for professional environments, it supports up to 1.5TB of memory when used with appropriate motherboard configurations.
