The Intel Core i3-6300 was a desktop processor with 2 cores, launched in September 2015. It is part of the Core i3 lineup, using the Skylake architecture with Socket LGA1151. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, the core-count is effectively doubled, to 4 threads. The Core i3-6300 has 4 MB of L3 cache and operates at 3.3 GHz with no turbo boost capability. Intel manufactured the Core i3-6300 on a 14 nm production process, making it more power-efficient compared to previous generations. With a TDP of 35 W, this processor is relatively energy-efficient and suitable for compact systems. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with dual-channel interface, compatible with DDR4-1866 and DDR4-2133 speeds. ECC memory is not supported on this consumer-grade processor. For communication with other components in the system, the Core i3-6300 uses a PCI-Express 3.0 connection. Unlike some higher-end processors, the Core i3-6300 features Intel HD Graphics 530 integrated graphics, eliminating the need for a discrete graphics card in basic systems. Hardware virtualization is supported on the Core i3-6300, which improves virtual machine performance. The processor shares many similarities with the Core i3-6100, offering slightly higher clock speeds while maintaining the same power efficiency and feature set. The multiplier is locked on Core i3-6300, limiting overclocking potential. This processor is ideal for budget-conscious users needing reliable performance for everyday computing tasks.
