The Intel Xeon E3-1246 v3 was a server/workstation processor with 4 cores, launched in Q2 2014. It is part of the Xeon E3 lineup, using the Haswell architecture with Socket LGA1150. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 8 threads. Xeon E3-1246 v3 has 8 MB of L3 cache and operates at 3.5 GHz base frequency, with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz depending on workload. Intel is manufacturing the Xeon E3-1246 v3 on a 22 nm production process, featuring approximately 1.4 billion transistors. The multiplier is locked on Xeon E3-1246 v3, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 84 W, this processor maintains relatively moderate power consumption compared to higher-end Xeon models.
