The Intel Xeon Silver 4210R was a server/workstation processor with 10 cores, launched in Q1 2020. It is part of the Xeon Silver lineup, using the Cascade Lake architecture with Socket LGA3647. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 20 threads. Xeon Silver 4210R has 13.75 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 2.4 GHz, with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz depending on workload conditions. Intel manufactured the Xeon Silver 4210R on a 14 nm production process. The multiplier is locked on Xeon Silver 4210R, which limits its overclocking potential. With a TDP of 100 W, this processor offers balanced power efficiency for enterprise environments. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with a six-channel interface at speeds up to 2400 MHz. ECC memory is fully supported, which is crucial for mission-critical applications to prevent data corruption. For communication with other system components, Xeon Silver 4210R uses PCI-Express 3.0 connections. This processor does not include integrated graphics, requiring a discrete graphics card for display output. Hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x) is supported on the Xeon Silver 4210R, significantly enhancing virtual machine performance. The processor also features Intel's Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (AVX-512) for accelerated compute performance in demanding workloads. As a second-generation Xeon Scalable processor, it includes enhanced security features like Intel SGX and supports Intel Optane Persistent Memory for large memory configurations.
