The Intel Xeon Gold 6135 was a server/workstation processor with 8 cores, launched in July 2017. It is part of the Xeon Scalable lineup, using the Skylake-SP architecture with Socket LGA3647. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 16 threads. Xeon Gold 6135 has 24.75 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 3.4 GHz, with a maximum turbo boost frequency of 4.0 GHz depending on workload conditions. Intel is manufacturing the Xeon Gold 6135 on a 14 nm production process using advanced transistor technology. The multiplier is locked on Xeon Gold 6135, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 155 W, the Xeon Gold 6135 requires robust cooling solutions for optimal performance. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with a six-channel interface at speeds up to 2666 MHz. ECC memory is fully supported, which is crucial for enterprise-level applications and mission-critical systems to ensure data integrity. For communication with other system components, Xeon Gold 6135 utilizes PCI-Express 3.0 connections. This processor does not include integrated graphics, so a dedicated graphics card is recommended for display output. Hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x) is supported on the Xeon Gold 6135, significantly enhancing virtual machine performance. The processor also features advanced instruction sets including AVX-512 for demanding computational workloads, making it ideal for data center and high-performance computing applications.
