The Intel Xeon Gold 6126F was a server/workstation processor with 12 cores, launched in July 2017. It is part of the Xeon Gold lineup, using the Skylake-SP architecture with Socket LGA3647. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 24 threads. To further increase overall system performance, up to two Xeon Gold 6126F CPUs can work together in a multi-processor (SMP) configuration. Xeon Gold 6126F has 19.25 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz, with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.7 GHz depending on workload. Intel is building the Xeon Gold 6126F on a 14 nm production process using a large number of transistors. The multiplier is locked on Xeon Gold 6126F, which limits its overclocking capabilities. With a TDP of 135 W, the Xeon Gold 6126F requires robust cooling solutions for optimal operation. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory with a six-channel interface at speeds up to 2666 MHz. ECC memory is supported as well, which is crucial for mission-critical systems to prevent data corruption. For communication with other system components, Xeon Gold 6126F uses PCI-Express 3.0 connections. This processor does not include integrated graphics, so a discrete graphics card may be required. Hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x) is fully supported on the Xeon Gold 6126F, significantly enhancing virtual machine performance. The processor also features advanced instruction sets including AVX-512 for demanding computational workloads.
